Individual, Family, School-Based, Integrated Care & Group Therapy
Help is available for those with behavioral health diagnoses, including individual, group, and family therapy. We offer office-based services, school-based services, and primary care offices. Our Integrated Care efforts include Mountain View Pediatrics and High Country Community Health.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) helps youth experiencing posttraumatic stress return to a healthy state of functioning after a traumatic event. A trained clinician works with the youth and caregiver to decrease the negative behavior patterns and emotional responses resulting from sexual abuse, physical abuse, or other trauma.
Substance Use Disorder Services is a relationship-based treatment for groups and individuals. A team of licensed therapists works together with individuals and their guardians, if appropriate, to develop a plan of action to address goals related to their substance use. Ask about our gender-specific groups.
Psychiatric Care and Medication Management assessments are available for individuals dealing with behavioral health challenges stemming from symptoms caused by their behavioral health diagnosis. Individuals must be involved in therapeutic services to obtain psychiatric care and medication management services.

Hospital Discharge Planning
Children who are discharging from an inpatient psychiatric facility, facility-based crisis, or detox need care coordination and/or continued behavioral health services.
Assertive Engagement
Assertive Engagement (AE) is a community-based resource to assist children and adolescents in consistently accessing and navigating supportive services. The goal is to receive timely outreach and engagement into the most appropriate treatment.
Intensive In-Home (IIH) teams are available to serve children and adolescents at risk of out-of-home placement and/or need to be stabilized within the home.
Day Treatment Services
Day Treatment is an intensive behavioral health service that allows children and adolescents to access clinical treatment while enrolled in the local county school system. Day Treatment services focus on helping the child or adolescent meet goals and return to a traditional academic setting. A Caring Alternative works with the school system to optimize academic performance and meet the behavioral health needs of each student referred to the program. Children and adolescents in the program receive treatment to increase emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, and resilience so that they can successfully access academics in a mainstream school setting. Our Day Treatment Services partners with Buncombe, Mitchell, and Yancey County School Systems. Our licensed treatment offices are available within those school systems.
Therapeutic Foster Care
For children who need a safe and nurturing environment, Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) can help. The goal for TFC is for each child to return to their natural home or an environment best suited for their needs after making positive behavioral changes.
